STEFANIE LEWIS, director of giving

Business author Linda Pinson defined an entrepreneur as: "a person who starts a business to follow a vision, to make money, and to be the master of his/her own soul (both financially and spiritually). “

She also used the description “an ‘educated’ risk taker."

Those characteristics are exactly what Stefanie Lewis brings to the
e-Partners in Giving Family.

“Stefanie doesn’t brag about her entrepreneurial endeavors,” e-Partners President/CEO Drew Myers said, “but she has that mind-set instilled in her character. That’s why I love having her on our team.”

Over the last several years, Stefanie has helped launch several small business endeavors – all while holding down her full-time job of being a stay-at-home mom.

“I put ‘domestic goddess’ on my resume,” Stefanie said with a smile.

While raising her two daughters – Maddie and Jordan – Stefanie help start a business that helped busy people get organized.

“It involved some cleaning and some throwing away,” Stefanie explained. “We just dealt with a lot of junk that people didn’t want to deal with anymore. It was rewarding because we helped people take back control of their lives.”

Stefanie’s other business “adventure” was a distributorship franchise.

“Those were both great opportunities – I learned a lot about business and what I wanted to do with my life,” Stefanie said, “but e-Partners in Giving tugged at my heart strings a little. I am proud to be a part of this company because I am confident that the service we provide will help increase charitable giving and draw attention to all of the causes around the world that need donations to keep them going.”

She added: “All my passions – business and philanthropy – have come together. It’s like the perfect storm.”

Stefanie, a former collegiate softball standout, graduated with a degree in psychology from Marshall University. It was at Marshall where she met her husband, Matt.

Before starting a family, Stefanie also tried her hand at coaching, serving as a graduate assistant on the Thundering Herd staff in 1999. During that same year, Stefanie also worked as a case aide at Timeout Youth Shelter in Huntington, West Virginia.

CHARITY OF CHOICE: Susan G. Komen For the Cure

IN HER OWN WORDS:

“Every year over 40,000 lives are taken from breast cancer. In 1993 my Grandmother was one of those lives. This foundation is dedicated to finding a cause and a cure for breast cancer. Through their research and dedication we can have hope for a future where breast cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease.”

CHARITY OF CHOICE: The Children’s Miracle Network

IN HER OWN WORDS:

“As a mom of two, this charity really tugs at my heart. The Children's Miracle Network helps over 17 million children each year. They fund 170 hospitals in North America so they can provide the finest medical care and life-saving research.”

DREW MYERS, president and chief executive officer

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

When Drew Myers graduated from Midwestern State University, his mom gave him this quote – every day since then, the president/CEO of
e-Partners in Giving has lived by these words.

“Life is too short to have regrets,” Drew said. “I don't want to wake up one day and say ‘what if.’ ”

After graduating from MSU, Drew has worked in the newspaper industry (writer and designer) and higher education (admissions officer). He has coached college football (Blinn College), been a recruiting coordinator for a Division I football program (TCU), and worked his way up into athletic administration.

“I’ve had some great jobs – I’m very proud about what I’ve accomplished,” Drew said. “But nothing compares to what I’m doing right now; e-Partners in Giving lights a fire inside of me that I can’t put into words.”

He continued: “It’s so exhilarating to have an idea, believe in it with your whole heart, and then take a leap of faith to make it a reality.”

Drew came up with the idea for e-Partners in Giving while working in the Athletics Department at TCU. His most recent position was Director of Communications. He held that position for one year.

Before that, he was the Assistant Director of Football Operations for Gary Patterson’s staff.

Drew lives in Fort Worth with his wife Tanya.

While coaching football at Blinn College, Drew earned his master’s degree in educational administration. His degree from Midwestern State is in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism.

“I love to see people’s faces when I tell them what I’m doing,” he said. “I will admit, it’s a little random for someone who went to school to be a sports writer and then cashed in his chips to become a football coach.”

He said he is definitely “learning to run a business on the fly,” but he said his drive and the work ethic instilled in him by his parents balances everything out.

Drew used to tell his football players this before every season: “I didn’t play college football – if that’s a problem, let’s address right now. When I decided to be a coach, I realized this would be slight disadvantage for me, but that just means I have to work that much harder and smarter to be the best football coach possible.”

He explained: “I made a promise to each one of those kids that I would do that – I owed them that. You know what? The fact I didn’t play college football was never a problem.”

He said he applies the exact same principles to e-Partners in Giving.

“I don’t have an MBA from Harvard – heck I only took one business class at Midwestern State,” Drew said, “but that just means I have to work harder and smarter to make e-Partners in Giving successful. When you’re passionate about something, like I am about this, it’s pretty easy.”
